Scottish case to suspend Palestine Action ban goes ahead
- The case to pause the ban on Palestine Action in Scotland is going ahead on Wednesday, 27th of May.
- Pro-Palestine protesters will gather outside of Parliament Square on the day to show support for the suspension of the ban.
A judicial review of the proscription of Palestine Action was granted with the prospect of suspending the ban in Scotland until the appeal of the UK government is settled. This case will go forward on Wednesday 27th May.
A rally has been called for Wednesday in front of the Court of Session at Parliament Square.
A Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign spokesperson commented:
“The ban on Palestine Action will remain in the history books as one of the most pathetic attempts to crush the voice of the people. T-shirt and placard alleged terrorists have the court thrown at them for allegedly being dangerous, while often being told they aren’t required to show up to their own proceedings.
And this is all so the UK government can protect the Gaza Concentration Camp through a wave of repression formed fictitious claims of antisemitism and terrorism against those opposing Israel’s genocide.
We must all remember when the ban was enforced:
Not one pro-Palestinian voice was heard.
Not one human rights organisation was heard.
Not one single person in Scotland was heard.
Yvette Cooper didn’t even deem our own counter terrorist strategy board worth contacting.
Scotland will have a chance to say no to the draconian regime that has imposed itself on us long enough!”
